Hi, there! Today we're going to take a quick look at how Campaign Monitor's marketing automation helps you design personalized customer journeys to drive engagement and revenue. Let's take a look. Today I'm playing the role of a marketer at Virgin Experience Days. We sell amazing adventures, like race car driving and hot air balloon rides. 

When someone signs up on the website, I want to start a journey that's a welcome series of offers over the course of the next week. This type of automated campaign increases the likelihood I'll be able to convert them into paying customers right away. 

To do that, I'll log in and get started in Campaign Monitor's Visual Journey Designer. First,
we'll trigger this journey to start immediately after someone joins this list by signing up
from our website. The next step is to choose when to send the first email. For a welcome
email, the best practice is to skip the time delay and send it immediately, then choose
the content, and decide if there are any rules or conditions we want to apply. 

Next, we'll define our email content by heading to the Template Library and finding the email, which
we've already designed. Any final edits can be made entirely in Campaign Monitor's simple
and intuitive builder. Remembering that the goal of this email is to turn my signups into
customers, I'm going to drag and drop in a big, bold call-to-action to guide them back
to my store to purchase. So, I've defined when the first email will be sent. 

Now, I can add a time delay, three days before I send the next email. But I want to get more
targeted to really drive engagement. To do that, I'll set a condition to create a unique
experience based on how subscribers engaged with the initial email. 

If the welcome email was opened, we know we've caught our subscribers' attention, so we'll send an offer for our top-selling experiences. If it wasn't opened, we'll send a more introductory email about
what Virgin Experience Days has to offer. 

From here, we can add additional steps to the journey, but for now, this looks good. So, I'll go ahead and click the green button to start the campaign. Domain authentication shows that your emails aren’t coming from someone pretending to represent you or your company.

This is super important, because emails sent from unauthenticated domains have an incredibly lowered chance of being delivered, meaning they could be flagged and prevented from going to an inbox. Authenticating your domain shows other email services (like Gmail or Yahoo) that your emails are legitimate and okay to view.

Your domain only needs to be authenticated once, and this can be done by you or someone on your IT team. And, of course, we’re here to help if you have any questions.

To authenticate your domain, go to your Account Settings by clicking on your profile in the top right. Then select Authentication, then Add a sending domain.

A quick note: The rest of this setup requires you to have access to your domain registrar, and has some pretty techy instructions. If you’re not familiar with any of these terms, you may want to ask your IT team for help, or reach out to the friendly support team here at Campaign Monitor.

Once you add your domain, you can Generate DNS records. You’ll need to add these DNS records to your domain settings. This is usually done by signing into your domain provider’s site (like GoDaddy or Google Domains) and adding the DNS records in your domain management settings.

After you’ve entered the DNS records into your domain provider, you’ll select I’ve added the record, please verify it in Campaign Monitor.

While these settings usually take 10-15 minutes to initiate, we recommend waiting up to 24 hours for the settings to finalize.

After everything has been set up correctly, your authenticated domain will be listed in your Account settings under the Authentication section.

Remember: If you have any problems along the way, our support team is here to help with tech jargon, troubleshooting, and getting you through the domain authentication process.

As a Campaign Monitor customer, there may come a time when you experience the Approvals process.

The Approvals process exists to promote awesome deliverability for customers like yourself. It’s important to keep the Campaign Monitor community full of top-notch email senders, so Approvals is designed to make sure everyone is following best practices and sending emails that support deliverability for the entire Campaign Monitor community.

If it comes time that you’re selected to go through Approvals, first, we hope you know there’s nothing to worry about. Remember, this process is to make sure everyone’s deliverability is at its best, which helps you send better emails in the long run.

The key to a smooth approvals process is being prepared.

Make sure you follow the steps from the Deliverability Best Practices video, like including an unsubscribe link, sender name, and address in every campaign.

This process will also aim to verify that you have a great subscriber list. Make sure you know how your subscribers signed up for your list, and keep access to things like:

All the different ways you’ve collected email addresses.
Like website sign-up forms, or at an event.
Written or digital proof of permission to send emails to your subscribers.
Like URLs for online subscribe forms.
The actions subscribers took to opt in.
Such as ticking a checkbox on a form.
Maintain access to records of how often you’ve sent emails to your subscribers.
Your list shouldn’t be outdated, and you should show activity from your subscribers within the last year, like new signups, purchases, or email engagement.
The Approvals process will be quick and easy if you’re running your account with these guidelines in mind.

Email deliverability is a measure of how many emails are successfully placed in the subscriber’s inbox. Great deliverability, sometimes called ‘Inbox placement’ requires a certain degree of responsibility.

As your email service provider, Campaign Monitor takes care of our sending platform, reputation, and management, and you as the sender need to look after your permission, reputation, and sending patterns.

If you have issues with high bounce rates, low open rates, junk folder placement, or high complaint rates from your subscribers, you may need to work on your email deliverability—which is what this video is here to help with.

To improve the chances of your email being successfully delivered to your subscribers’ inboxes, you should follow these guidelines:

Every campaign should have a single-click unsubscribe link, as well as the name and physical address of the sender.
This will help you stay in line with global email laws and procedures.
Get explicit permission from every recipient in your list.
Making sure your subscribers know they have the option to receive emails from you is really important. Getting their consent to receive your emails is key to better engagement, fewer bounces and complaints, and successful inbox placement.
Set up domain authentication for your sending domain.
When you send emails out of Campaign Monitor, they should come from a domain that you own. More on authentication in the next video.
Many emailers also don’t realize that deliverability also depends on the authority of the email service provider they’re using. As a Campaign Monitor customer, you’re in great hands, since our deliverability is one of the greatest in email marketing. By using Campaign Monitor and following these deliverability guidelines, your emails have the best chance at reaching their destinations.

Hi, everyone! Today we’re going to take a quick look at Campaign Monitor’s email marketing and automation. Enjoy.

I’m assuming the role of a marketing manager at Converse, the global shoes and apparel company.

And today I want to tell my subscribers about a new campaign we’re launching.

To do that, I’ll head over to Campaign Monitor, the simple and elegant email marketing tool that enables Converse to send all of its customer-facing emails. 

Let’s jump right in by clicking the “Create a new campaign” button.

The four dots in the right-hand corner show me where I am in the process of completing my campaign.

The first step is to name my campaign, give it a compelling subject line, and a reply-to address. 
I have the option of personalizing the subject line by adding the subscriber’s name. 

I can A/B test the performance of any of the elements of this email by clicking the A/B tab above, but let’s save that for another day, and jump into the second of the four steps.

Next, we can select one of over twenty-five, pre-built, mobile-ready templates to fit every top marketing use case, including: announcements, newsletters, deals and offers, feedback, and events.

Or, if we have coding skills, we could upload an HTML template. 
But today, for the sake of time, let’s clone a template I’ve previously sent that performed particularly well. 

I’m presented with an outline of where the new content should go, so all that’s left to do is grab images ready-to-go right from my desktop. 
I’ll start at the top with the Converse logo.

Next, I’ll drop in a gorgeous, edge-to-edge image of the sneakers I want to promote. 

Now my email is really starting to resemble the Converse website, but I’m not done yet.

Inline editing makes it quick and easy to type text and see exactly how it will look next to the other elements in the builder.
And as every marketer knows, a great promotional email is designed for conversion.

To do that, I’ll add a big, bold button with a clear call-to-action.
I can always choose from the robust selection of fonts provided by Campaign Monitor, but I also have the flexibility to drop in a text image. 
And if an element of the email isn’t feeling quite right (such as the size of a headline), I can play around with the size, or choose from an infinite number of colors. 

Lastly, Campaign Monitor’s spacing capabilities means you can build an email that’s pixel perfect. 

Now, since this template is mobile-optimized out of the box, we can see exactly how it will look in every inbox or mobile device, without any additional time or effort.

Let’s move to the third step, deciding who to send this to.
I’m now presented with several pre-populated lists, such as web signups, manual uploads, or via one of Campaign Monitor’s 260 integration partners, like Salesforce or WordPress. 

But today, let’s build a brand new list, and to do that, I can grab a spreadsheet right from my desktop. In a matter of minutes, we’re ready to send our email marketing campaign. We’ll send it immediately, but you can always select a time in the future. Maybe if you’re targeting a different time zone and won’t be in the office to click send.  

So, we just sent our first email campaign. Now let’s take a look at our reporting capabilities. Immediately after sending, you can see exactly who’s opening your email and how they’re engaging with your email in a report called “Worldview.” As a marketer, it’s extremely gratifying to see your communications reaching your intended audience in realtime. 

And to track all of your key performance metrics, you can view the Campaign Snapshot to see a rich set of reports, including opens, bounces, and click-throughs...
