Can you tell us a little bit about your background?

There are a lot of things that I can explain, because I did a lot of different things from my study till now, but it's not so interesting for this video now. I started Instagram in 2014. No, 2015 actually, and then it was basically that I was not professional, I didn't know what to post, and I didn't delete at all. If you go my feed post previously, you will see that I was super amateur.

We lived in Brussels, and my partner was a general coordinator or a general manager in General Motors. We traveled a lot, and I thought that, okay, I started to travel and I can show the places just to my friends or my small followers, because I had maybe 15K. Then I started to make a lot of videos, a lot of photos by myself because my partner wasn't with me. I was alone, so it was also difficult. Then one day in Egypt, we were... I have a child, and after birth I told my husband that I will become an influencer, but I was very... I was not model. After the birth, I was very fat. I was ugly, to be honest. My partner just laughed and told me, "Look at yourself. How can you be an influencer?" Then it's motivated me, of course, a lot.

Benny Trent is a UK-based influencer who’s goal is to make the world a happier place, one smile at a time. Producing content using the name SanGoMan, Benny’s TikTok account has grown to over 767,000 followers over the last two years and he has worked with well-known global companies such as NordVPN. You can follow Benny on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube to name a few.

What inspired you to start your comedy TikTok channel?

Well, it’s something I’ve always wanted to do, but I think the thing that pushed me in the direction of actually doing something was the pandemic, because all of a sudden we were locked in with nothing to do. Obviously where I’m from in the UK, there’s very much a pub culture here. So I mean, that’s literally part of our society is going out and meeting friends and things like that. All of a sudden, we had everything taken away. Well, everybody did globally, didn’t they?

So all of a sudden I had to find something to do to fill in the time, really. I work a lot with kids and they were like, “Oh, you should do TikTok, you’d be really good at it.” I was like, “No, that’s that weird dance app that kids do.” But then I think probably everyone over 30 ended up getting it. It’s just the perfect platform because I enjoy performing and entertaining. I enjoy the editing process and the filming. So to have these short, sharp videos that you could just throw out there, it just became a hobby. To see views coming in in real time, it became quite addictive, really. So it became a regular part of my day and now I’m stuck with it, I suppose. So, yeah.

Kristen Live is a South Florida based lifestyle influencer with a background in psychology. A former marriage and family/addictions Therapist turned full-time content creator, Kristen represents one third of the Toxics Anonymous podcast, a safe space for recovering toxics to recognize and admit to their toxic traits, share testimonies, toxic tales, and learn coping strategies to lead individuals away from a toxic cycle. You can follow Kristen Live on all major social networks including Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and Twitter. You can also listen to Kristen on the Toxics Anonymous podcast on Spotify, iHeartRadio, YouTube, and more.

Can you tell us a little bit about your background?

I got my master's degree in psychology back in 2015, so it was quite a while ago. I did work in the field for two years. I worked as a therapist for addictions, so an addictions counselor, marriage and family therapist per se. And then I kind of just took a different route because I had a lot of opportunities with the social media world. At the time, it was just kind of starting to begin to boom. There wasn't really necessarily influencers back then, but there was a lot of modeling jobs and that kind of stuff. So I started going that route in more of the arts and entertainment, and then the rest was history. Once the social media stuff started going, I definitely paid a little bit more attention to that. So I left my job as a therapist and I've been doing this ever since.

You're part of a new podcast and you hit the ground running. I saw one of the guests recently was Jamie Foxx, so that's off to a really good start!

Yeah, that was our second episode. Jamie is a really good friend of ours, so he did us a huge favor, which is amazing, just to kind of give our podcast a little notoriety. So yeah, we started off with a bang, but my podcast is called Toxics Anonymous, and it's kind of a play on words of what I used to do as a therapist.

Dr. Ben Rein is a neuroscientist at Stanford who began sharing educational science videos on social media in 2020. Dr. Rein’s videos summarize recent research papers, debunk viral videos containing misinformation, teach fundamental neuroscience lessons and inform about the importance of scientific research. Additionally, Dr. Rein offers guidance to students in science through a video series called "Scientips" and leads the Aspiring Scientists Coalition, a global community organization that hosts free events for students in the sciences. Dr. Rein also runs a Snapchat show called "Make it Brain" and has partnered with one of China's largest video-sharing sites to enhance science popularization. You can follow Dr. Rein on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube or visit benrein.com for more details.

It’s not every day I get to speak to a neuroscientist, so I’m really interested in your background. Can you tell us a little bit about it?

Of course. Yeah, so like you said, I’m a neuroscientist. I’m currently doing my research at Stanford University. Previously I did my PhD at University of Buffalo, where I’m from, and I’ve always been interested in social interaction and the brain systems that control those things. And so that’s what I’m studying, but I didn’t expect that I would end up on social media and that happened just sort of naturally and it was truly happenstance, but I’m glad it did.

What inspired you to branch out and bring your message to social media?

It actually happened on accident, believe it or not. I guess some people probably have this story, but long story short, I posted a video on TikTok and it went viral. That’s pretty much what happened, and I wasn’t intending on doing it. I genuinely, I know it probably sounds made up, but I wasn’t trying to go viral. I was just using TikTok to record myself for a video that I was posting on my personal Facebook, and it did go viral and people started asking me questions about science, and I was like, I guess this is a good niche to be in.

Can you briefly tell us about your background in including how you got into the entertainment industry?

All I can tell you is I'm the youngest of five kids in an Italian family with a large age gap between our ages. I have a very huge Italian family, like 400 people. Our third cousins feel like first cousins, we're very close. Growing up in that sort of lifestyle enables you to relate to many different people on many level, like many levels. Also, it makes you be whether you want to be or not, outgoing. I always had an interest in the arts, and because I was the youngest of five and there was a age gap between my siblings and I, I didn't go to preschool. I was home with my mom and I watched, not Sesame Street, not Mr. Rogers or anything like that. I watched a New York nostalgia network, which would be the equivalent of AMC or Turner Classics.

I thought those things were current, like the Judy Garland Show. Judy Garland, of course people know from Wizard of Oz and all those things, a lot of black and white things. I Love Lucy, I thought that's what was on TV, so thusly because that old studio system existed back then, where you had to be good at everything. You had to sing, you had to dance, you had to act, you had to do everything in one. I thought, "Oh, that's what Hollywood is," and that was sort of my early training and I wanted to be a part of that world. Also, I've always felt like I'm an old soul and that's why I got into jazz and American standards and all that stuff. But I think it really came from there. I do enough of these interviews and we've sort of backtracked it to, that had to be it where I just thought, "This is what I'm watching. It's on TV. It's all very possible."

My mother and dad were very good at coddling each of us in what we wanted to do, but not like a showbiz parent or a helicopter parent. They just were very gentle and like, "Oh, well she's interested in this, so you should get in this class or whatnot." It sort of stemmed from there. Then I was very active in high school. I had moved from New York to Florida and New York schools are very progressive in relation, so I was kind of ahead of my schooling. I got involved in the radio program, and the TV program, and the theater and all these things, not just in school, but in the community. I was doing radio shows, and writing for the local paper and all these things just to be a part of entertainment.

Bárbara Khouri Miguel is a Brazilian Creator living in Miami. Barbara is a postgraduate in Digital Marketing, Creative Director for TANN Swim and Content Creator working with brands to create elevated visuals and personal stories to inspire and engage. You can find Barbara on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, to name a few.

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself, including your background and what led you to become an influencer?

I'm 31 now, but in my younger years we already had blown up social media and internet, so I was sharing my life anyway since I was 18, 19. There was other platforms there were at the time, but I was there and suddenly we didn't talk much about the influencer market 10 years ago, was much smaller, but suddenly I started getting some offers and some like, you should come here, let's do this. And it was really small, really nothing major, but I like it. And I'm someone who really liked the visual aspect of social media like photography and videos and editing and everything. So I just used my free time. I was younger, I had more free time. I used my free time to do this and I actually never took it as a job or seriously at the time. So I was later in college, I studied something totally different. I was working, but I never left it until I decided, okay, I need to take this seriously.

You're affiliated with not one, but two swimsuit companies: Tann and Ripple, BB. Can you tell us about them and what the differences are in terms of who they cater to?

So I study economics. I work in banks and everything. So nothing to do what I'm doing, nothing like at all as what I'm doing now. But at one point I said, you know what, this is not what I want to do my whole life. And I always knew I wanted to have a business or something of my own. All my family, they are entrepreneurs and they all had their business and experiences and I had this confidence that I could try and maybe see how it went. So five years ago, I started my first brand, which is Tann Swim and it was very fashion focused brand. So it's not like your common swimwear brand that is very commercial. And you see everywhere. I wanted to do something different. So I started designing it and researching different things and everything and it went great.

Jens Mayer is a German digital creator who regularly posts about the German language, culture, and humor. Jen’s TikTok account, TV Jenson, has grown to over 237,000 followers. You can find Jens on Instagram, YouTube and TikTok, to name a few.

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself, including your background, and what started the shift into becoming an influencer?

Yeah, I worked 10 years in a bank, then I started business psychology, so I was on the more serious side of life, but I always had a passion of editing, recording videos, since my childhood, so really since the 10 or 12, it was 10 or 12 years. I always did videos and love to share this with my friends.

And then of course social media got popular, and I used a chance also for my passion. So yeah, since nine years, I've [created] videos on social media, and getting more and more successful.

What separates your content from other peoples? What makes your content unique?

I always love to travel, I always love cultures, and yeah, since five years I am, for example, in an international relationship, with a Brazilian, I've always lived in flats, shared flats with international students, so I always had this daily context about differences in cultures and languages, and that's how I started with the new niche. I have also a travel niche, a travel couple content, and now the newest of them, is TV Jensen.

Marley Blonsky is the co-Founder of All Bodies on Bikes, a movement working towards body-size inclusion in the cycling industry. Marley currently rides for and is supported by Cannondale, Pearl Izumi, Shimano, Chamois Butt’r, to name a few. Marley believes that bikes can be a tool for community building, empowerment, education and fun. Marley is an advocate for people of all sizes, genders, races, ages, income levels and abilities to be included and welcomed in the bike community. To that end, Marley is actively working with the bike industry, community groups and riders to create inclusive groups where all feel welcome to ride! For more information, visit lifeontwowheels.space or follow Marley on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube, to name a few.

When did you start cycling, and how did you get into the sport?

Like most folks, I rode bikes as a kid, and then as I got into high school, college, kind of forgot about it, forgot that it was something I enjoyed. But I was living in Seattle, and I had moved to Capitol Hill, which is a super dense part of the city where driving a car just doesn’t make sense.

This was in 2012, and so I was taking the bus to and from work, and it was taking me like 45 minutes to go two miles. And I kept seeing all these people on bikes riding past me. I was like, “I want to do that.” And it wasn’t necessarily an easy entry point. I think a lot of us have felt that. It can be intimidating or scary, and then I am short and fat, so finding a bicycle that fit me, and clothing, made it even harder.

Tell us about All Bodies on Bikes, the movement you co-founded…

All Bodies on Bikes is a movement that started out of my frustration with not being able to find clothing, or with breaking parts of my bicycle. I knew that I wasn’t the only larger bodied person who was riding bikes, but who was doing so with subpar equipment.
